The Ownership Program

Own the chargers.
We run
the rest.

You buy the chargers. EV Initiative finds the site, installs them and runs them on its network, and you get what is left of each paid session after card processing, the site’s electricity, our connection fee where one applies and our 15%.

In one paragraph

The Ownership Program splits three jobs that usually sit with one party. An owner buys and owns the charging equipment. A site provides the parking and the power, and gets the equipment and its operation free. EV Initiative sources the site, helps set the price drivers pay, and runs the chargers on the same network that runs chargers for buildings, hotels, fleets and homes today. From each paid session EV Initiative pays the site’s electricity back and keeps its connection fee and 15% of what remains, and the owner gets the rest.

  • Owner

    Buys and owns the chargers.

  • Site

Gets the equipment and its operation free.

  • EV Initiative

Sources the site and runs the chargers.

  • 15%

EV Initiative’s share of what remains after card processing, the site’s electricity and its connection fee. The owner gets the rest.

How it works

From question
to network.

From your first question to a charger on the network.

One

Request information.

Tell us who you are. A person replies, takes you through the terms and answers your questions.

Two

Buy the chargers.

You buy the equipment directly from EV Initiative under a written agreement, and you own it. Take your own legal, tax and financial advice first.

Three

We place them.

EV Initiative sources and qualifies the site, installs the equipment and programs it to the network. Commissioning finishes on site, after a tested plug-in and launch approval.

Four

We run them.

EV Initiative helps set the price drivers pay and runs the chargers on its network: payments, drivers, monitoring and remote fixes.

Who does what

Three parties.
Three jobs.

Each party knows what it provides and how it is paid.

The owner

Owns the equipment.

  • Buys the chargers from EV Initiative and owns them.
  • Signs in to see which chargers are online and what each site delivers.
  • Gets the rest of each paid session, paid to their own Stripe account.
The site

Provides the space.

  • Provides the parking spaces and the electrical service.
  • Gets the equipment and its operation free.
  • Connects its bank account, where EV Initiative pays its electricity back.
EV Initiative

Runs the chargers.

  • Sources and qualifies the site.
  • Installs, programs and commissions the chargers, and helps set the price drivers pay.
  • Runs them on the network and keeps its connection fee and 15% platform share.

Where the money goes

Who gets paid,
in order.

Every paid session moves the same way. The agreement you sign sets out the detail.

  1. First

    The driver pays.

The price for the session, set with EV Initiative’s help and shown before charging starts.

  2. Second

    Card processing.

The payment processor’s fee comes off the top.

  3. Third

    The site’s electricity.

EV Initiative pays it back to the bank account the site connects.

  4. Fourth

    Our fee and 15%.

EV Initiative keeps its connection fee where one applies and 15% of what remains. We source every site, so we pay no Sales Partner commission on these chargers.

  5. Fifth

    The owner gets the rest.

Paid to the owner’s own Stripe account, which itemizes every payout.

Charging revenue depends on driver demand, pricing, electricity costs and equipment uptime, and can be lower than expected or nothing.

Site types

Where the
chargers go.

EV Initiative sources three kinds of site. Anything specific to a site is shared with you directly.

Multifamily

Where people live.

Apartment and condominium buildings, where residents charge overnight and guests charge while they visit.

Retail and hospitality

Where people stop.

Shopping centres, restaurants and hotels, where drivers charge while they shop, eat or stay.

Public

Where anyone parks.

Public car parks and destinations along a route, open to any driver with the app or a card.

What the owner sees

The equipment,
in plain view.

Owners sign in to the same platform operators use, and are paid through Stripe.

Owner dashboard

Every charger.

Which of the chargers you own are online right now.

Per-site reports

Site by site.

Sessions and energy delivered at each site, with CSV exports for your accountant.

Payout history

Every payment.

Stripe itemizes every payout to you in your own account.

The Operator Manual shows how the network runs and what you see when you sign in.

Questions

Straight
answers.

Who can take part?

Anyone who wants to own charging equipment that EV Initiative places and runs. You buy the chargers directly from EV Initiative and you own them.

Where are the prices and the terms?

In the agreement you sign to buy the chargers. A person takes you through the price of the equipment, the costs and the risks when you request information. This page makes no projection of what a charger will bring in.

Is the revenue certain?

No. Charging revenue depends on driver demand, pricing, electricity costs and equipment uptime, and can be lower than expected or nothing.

Who runs the chargers?

EV Initiative. It sources and qualifies the site, helps set the price drivers pay, installs the equipment, programs it to its network and runs it: payments, drivers, monitoring and support.

What does the site pay?

Nothing for the equipment or its operation. The site provides the parking and the power and connects its bank account, where EV Initiative pays its electricity back.

Where does the money from a session go?

The driver pays the price for the session. Card processing comes off first, then the site’s electricity. EV Initiative keeps its connection fee where one applies and 15% of what remains. The owner gets the rest, paid to their own Stripe account.

Does a Sales Partner take a cut?

No. EV Initiative sources every site in the program, so it pays no Sales Partner commission on these chargers. A partner EV Initiative calls in to install is doing an install, not bringing the site.

How do I see what my chargers do?

You sign in to see which of your chargers are online and the sessions and energy delivered at each site, with CSV exports. Stripe itemizes every payout to you in your own account.

Does requesting information commit me to anything?

No. Requesting information is not an application, an order or a reservation. We take no payment or deposit here and reserve nothing.

How is this different from the Host Program?

In the Host Program the person who owns a charger at their own property hosts it for guests. In the Ownership Program the owner of the equipment and the site are different parties, each under its own agreement, and EV Initiative runs the chargers between them.

Request information.

Name, email and phone. A person replies, takes you through the terms and answers your questions.

Important

Charging revenue depends on driver demand, pricing, electricity costs and equipment uptime, and can be lower than expected or nothing.

This page describes the program in general. The agreement you sign governs, and it controls wherever it differs from this page. Nothing here is legal, tax or financial advice.
