Plan Check Update: Technical Review Underway. Real progress to share.
On April 8 we submitted our complete construction document set to the City of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety and paid the plan check fees the same day. Plan Check #B26VN08918 was issued and the project went into the review queue.
On April 23 the City assigned a plan checker. Our drawings are now in active technical review at LADBS. This is the step that brings us materially closer to permits and authorization to break ground at 15555 W San Fernando Mission Blvd.
The submittal covers the full scope: 19 Tesla V4 Supercharger stalls, three architectural canopies, and the vending and restroom building. The City will issue separate permits for each of the four structures from this single plan check.
I'm sharing two of the architectural sheets so you can see what the finished site will look like.
A1. Site Plan. The overhead layout of all 19 stalls, the canopy footprints, the vending and restroom building, and the San Fernando Mission Blvd frontage. Two perspective renderings on the sheet show the site from street level, including the iconic canopy architecture and the EV Initiative monument signage.
A3. Building Plans and Elevations. The vending and restroom building in detail. Floor plan, roof plan, ceiling plan, all four exterior elevations, and cross sections. The west elevation is the customer-facing side: EV Initiative branded LED signage above the vending machines and the KioCafe robotic barista, with the restroom on the opposite side.
Targeted schedule ahead:
- Permits issued: May 2026
- Groundbreaking: June 2026
- Operations: Q1 2027
Coffman Engineering, AshleyVance Engineering (structural), and Guy Turner Design (architect) are on standby to respond to any plan check comments as they come back. The next update will go out when the City returns its first round of comments or the permits are issued, whichever comes first.
