All 19 Stalls Hold: Inside Our May 8 LADWP Meeting

We are in the final stretch of permitting. At this stage the agencies reviewing our plans naturally ask for adjustments, and one of those reshaped a corner of the site.

On May 8 we met with LADWP. The utility needs the ground where our small south canopy sits. That area becomes their staging zone for installing and maintaining the 4000A transformer that feeds the entire hub, and the clearance they require around that equipment is fixed. We did not give it up easily. The south canopy covers the stalls along San Fernando Mission Blvd and does real work. It anchors safety on that corner with lighting and cameras, and it gives the property a finished face on a busy street. We brought Council District 7 and Councilmember Monica Rodriguez's office into the conversation to back us.

We argued to keep the canopy. We argued just as hard to hold all 19 fast-charging stalls, because demand for charging in this part of the Valley is the reason we chose this site. This was a battle of inches. The lot is tight for everything we are building, and the utility's footprint does not bend. We worked through every option on the table. In the end, the south canopy comes out. The stalls held. All 19 remained in the plan coming out of this meeting, and that was the outcome that mattered most.

LADWP has been a real partner here. They are sharing CAD files and working directly with our architect to finalize the layout. Our team has been heads down on this for weeks, and that cooperation is what keeps a build like this moving. More soon.
